Kids in Sarnia are being invited to a drive-thru trick-or-treat this Halloween, courtesy of the Moose Lodge.
The local nonprofit will be handing out free bags of candy for all trick-or-treaters 12 and under, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at 874 Phillip St.
Administrator Don Berrill said they're expecting 750 kids at Saturday's event.
"We're in it for kids. We want to see everybody have a good time, and we figure it is going to be a weird year this year, so this is a good way to pay back and just ensure everybody has a good time," said Berrill. "We already support a whole bunch of youth groups in Sarnia. We just felt this was a good way to do it because even of course when COVID came around, the community helped us too because we had to go to all takeout food and we couldn't have people in the lodge when we were in Stage 1 and Stage 2."
Berrill said they'll have plenty of volunteers helping out to make the night "Spooktacular."
"We're basically going to do a drive-thru roundabout our building so they can come in and we can hand them each a bag of treats. So they get a little bit of Halloween, they get to see some other people dressed up, and they get to show off their costumes at the same time."
Berrill said they'll also be preparing some peanut-free bags, and that 10 bags will include a certificate for a Tommy Moose toy, the same stuffed animal they donate to local organizations.
