Lambton College gets provincial funding for upgrades, delayed maintenance

Lambton College is getting just over $2.1-million from the Ontario government to address delayed maintenance, and undertake critical upgrades and repairs.

Around $1.7-million is being used to complete overdue renovations to the machine shop and physics lab.

College President Judy Morris said the upgrades tie in well to the college's new athletics and fitness complex and NOVA Chemicals Health & Research Centre.

"When you can put your best foot forward, and people see it, they believe (and they should) that the place is progressive, it's updated and new and providing the best academic offerings out there. We'll have current machinery and all of those things which is obviously what you need for the world that we're living in right now and the world that we're moving into."

Morris said those upgrades should be completed by year's end.

She said they'll be upgrading the bridge at the west entrance in the new year.

Nearly $400,000 will be spent on the purchase of new instructional equipment and learning resources.
