Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow, weather statement for Lambton

Since we've got no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

The weatherman is providing added incentive for residents to heed the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions that take effect Saturday, and stay at home.

A special weather statement has been issued for east and north Lambton County.

Environment Canada said that snow may be occasionally heavy at times overnight Thursday into Christmas morning, with a general accumulation of five to 10 centimetres expected.

The weather agency also said areas near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay could see over 25 centimetres, along with blowing snow Friday.

The alert, issued before 5 a.m. Thursday, said lake effect snow squalls will take over Friday morning, and continue into Saturday.

Local whiteouts are possible at times in heavy and blowing snow, causing potentially dangerous road conditions. A snow squall watch will likely be needed for areas east of Lake Huron and southeast of Georgian Bay to address this concern for Friday and Saturday.
