The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Sarnia Sting forward Jamieson Rees to a three year entry level contract.
The 19-year-old was selected 44th overall by the Hurricanes in the 2019 NHL draft.
He had 18 goals and 43 assists for 61 points in just 39 games in a Sting uniform this past season. Rees has registered 113 points (33g, 80a) in 122 career OHL games with the Sting.
In a statement, Carolina GM Don Waddell praised Rees' style of play.
"Jamieson is a skilled center with strong playmaking ability," said Waddell. "He made major strides in his development last season, and we're looking forward to his next steps."
The Hamilton native represented Canada at the 2019 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, posting eight points (2g, 6a) in seven games and leading the team in assists.
