Sarnia police are investigating a hit-and-run involving a police cruiser and a white Mercedes sedan Wednesday night.
Police said out of concern for public safety, a suspect vehicle that had fled a traffic violation stop at around 11 p.m., was not pursued.
Several minutes later, an officer in an SUV cruiser, not involved with the initial incident, was struck by the Mercedes in the area of London Road and Christina Street, and the vehicle again fled. The officer was not seriously injured, but the cruiser was significantly damaged.
Police are asking for the public's help in locating the white Mercedes, which is believed to have damage to its front end. The car is described as a four-door, 2016 Mercedes C4A, with Ontario plate number CRKL459.
