"Major" plunge for cancer, Cool 106.3 announcer raises $4K (GALLERY,VIDEO)

Cool 106.3's morning show host took a "major" plunge to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society Saturday.

Max Major jumped in the icy waters of Lake Huron, raising an impressive $4,120.

In a bet with listener Robert Duff of Fort Gratiot, Michigan, Major promised to jump in the lake if Team Canada lost the World Junior Hockey Championship gold medal game to the U.S. January 5. Team USA beat the Canadians 2-0.

Despite the outcome of the wager, the two agreed to both take the polar plunge at noon Saturday on opposite sides of the border.

Duff raised $1,300 in U.S. funds for the American Cancer Society.
