Sarnia-Lambton moving to 'Red' in COVID-19 framework

Sarnia-Lambton is going up a level in Ontario's COVID-19 Response Framework.

The provincial government announced Friday afternoon that Lambton Public Health will be moving from the Orange-Restrict level to the Red-Control level as a result of worsening public health trends in the region over the past week.

The changes will come into effect on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 12:01 a.m.

According to the Lambton Public Health website, the area’s incidence rate per 100,000 population increased the week of February 7 to 13 to 60, from 28 the week before. The positivity rate is at 2.3 per cent.

Under the red level, indoor gatherings are limited to five people, and outdoor gatherings are capped at 25.

Restaurants and bars are allowed to be open for in-person dining, but capacity is limited to 10 people at a time, including no more than four people at a table.

Retail stores such as supermarkets, pharmacies and convenience stores may operate at 75 per cent capacity, while other retail outlets are limited to 50 per cent.

For religious services, weddings, and funerals, capacity is limited to 30 per cent capacity indoors and 100 people outdoors.
