Arrest made after vehicle runs border at Blue Water Bridge

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is confirming the arrest of a border runner at the Blue Water Bridge over the weekend.

At around 9:15 a.m. Sunday, it's alleged a vehicle with a lone occupant failed to stop at the primary inspection booth heading into Canada.

The CBSA told Blackburn News by email that it notified the OPP, and the suspect was arrested and taken back to the border crossing. It said failure to report to them upon entry to Canada is a serious offence and may result in penalties and/or charges.

The agency said it works closely with law enforcement partners to ensure that any person attempting to enter Canada without reporting is found and brought in for examination.

Further details were not provided.
