A 33-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting an employee at a store he was told not to attend.
City police say the suspect entered a Cathcart Boulevard business at around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Staff noticed the man from previous occasions and once again, told him that he was not welcome in the store.
Police say the mask-less suspect became agitated and confrontational, and that when an employee attempted to create personal space from the accused, he violently hit the employee in the chest with both of his hands.
Police say the man exited the store while continuing to verbally challenge the employee, leaving the area on a bicycle while carrying a sledgehammer. He was then arrested a short distance away.
Police say Lyle Guy Lavigne is charged with one count of assault. He has a court date set for June 15.
