A professional fundraiser is being hired at Victoria Playhouse Petrolia, thanks to a $135,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
It's a 12-month contract position that will assist with large scale fundraising campaigns and help with outreach to patrons.
Town Marketing Director Laurissa Ellsworth said the position has been a need for quite a while.
"We need to continue to maintain our strong fundraising base," said Ellsworth. "A good portion of how we do business is through sponsorships, fundraising individual donations from patrons, as well as donor opportunities through the Planned Giving program and that sort of thing," said Ellsworth.
Ellsworth said other goals include enhancing existing sponsorship campaigns, and further developing donor programs.
She said they don't have anyone specific in mind, but they're looking for someone with a big personality and a big love for theatre, who treats patrons like family.
The position is posted to the town's website, and applications close on June 1.
Before 2020, Victoria Playhouse Petrolia welcomed 40,000 patrons annually to their summer season and Christmas productions and injected more than $2 million dollars locally each year in economic spinoff.
