The flag at the municipal office has been lowered to half-mast in memory of Robert Maxwell "Max" Freer.
Chief Administrative Officer Rick Charlebois said Freer retired from the Petrolia and North Enniskillen Fire Department in 1971.
Freer's obituary posted on the Smith Funeral Home website said the 83-year-old passed away last Friday following a short hospitalization and complications related to COVID-19.
