Sarnia police investigate suspicious death on Cardiff Drive

A residence on Cardiff Drive is currently being held by Sarnia police as officers investigate a suspicious death.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. Saturday, officers from the Sarnia Police Service Community Response Division attended a residence on Cardiff Drive, near Wellington Street, to check on the welfare of the occupant.

Officers conducted a search inside the home and located a deceased elderly person.

According to police, the death is currently being classified as suspicious pending a postmortem.

"Due to the unknown cause of the death, at this time, the residence on Cardiff Drive is being held by the Sarnia police as the investigation continues by the Criminal Investigation Branch and the Coroner’s Office of Ontario," Sarnia police said in a media release.

The deceased will not be identified at this time pending confirmation of the identity of the body.
