Sarnia residents are being asked for their thoughts and feedback on the future of the city's waterfront, stretching from Sarnia Marina to Rainbow Park.
Staff are working on a new master plan for its future development.
Director of Economic Development Kelly Provost said an online survey, posted to speakupsarnia.ca, should only take about 10 minutes to complete.
"The first round of engagement is open for feedback now, and that's the waterfront background survey," said Provost. "We want to know how businesses, residents and visitors engage in the waterfront. It's asking things like how you get down to the waterfront, what do you do while you're there, and when do you visit most often."
Provost said the website will feature pre-recorded webinars between June 21 and July 1, where residents can provide feedback related to specific topics.
"We know that the waterfront is such a vital part of the city's history, the identity and community," she said. "So, we really do want to see what the public's feedback is, but we've got a great team of consultants that we're really excited to be working with. They have world renowned experience in waterfront development and I'd love to see some of the creative ideas that they bring to this process as well."
On June 26, there will be an informal consultation session held at the Centennial Park flag court.
Those interested can drop by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to cast votes for their favourite ideas and chat with city staff.
A rain date is scheduled for July 3 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
