Alleged impaired driver arrested

Lambton County OPP has laid its 45th impaired driving charge this year.

Constable Jamie Bydeley said officers observed a vehicle moving erratically as it headed north on Broadway Street in Wyoming just after 1 a.m. Friday.

When officers initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Bydeley said it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested and taken to the detachment where two samples of breath over the legal limit were provided.

A 66-year-old Plympton-Wyoming man was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired and operation while impaired with a blood concentration over 80.

He was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on August 30.

Residents are reminded to contact police if they see a driver they suspect is impaired by alcohol or drugs. OPP can be reached at 1-888-310-1122 or *OPP (677) on their mobile phone.
