Police arrest four impaired drivers within 24 hours

Sarnia police are reporting four impaired driving arrests over a 24 hour period, with suspects ranging in age from 24 to 56-years-old.

On Saturday July 31, at around 4:50 a.m., police responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Michigan Avenue and Modeland Road.

Officers spotted the vehicle near Blackwell Side Road, and allege it was crossing over the centre line and onto the gravel. The driver allegedly blew over twice the legal limit and was arrested. Police said they also found a small amount of cocaine in the vehicle.

A 36-year-old Sarnia man is facing charges, and will appear in court on September 15.

At around 4:38 p.m., a 56-year-old Sarnia man was arrested after being denied service at a local LCBO.

Police said he showed signs of impairment and allegedly left the area in his vehicle before officers arrived.

Police stopped the vehicle in the area of Cathcart Boulevard and Murphy Road, and allege the suspect blew over three times the legal limit.

At around 8:55 p.m., Sarnia police said a vehicle ran an amber light at Vidal Street North and George Street and then a red light at Vidal Street and Lochiel Street.

A 24-year-old male driver allegedly failed a roadside screening test and was arrested.

He is scheduled to appear in court on September 28.

At around 11:15 p.m., police stopped a vehicle that was swerving all over the road on London Line.

A 44-year-old driver from Scarborough was arrested after allegedly blowing over four times the legal limit.

He is scheduled to appear in court on September 21.
