OPP ready to keep the peace at OktBorderFest

Residents may notice an increased police presence in Point Edward this weekend during Bluewater OktBorderFest.

Lambton OPP said officers will be at Waterfront Park both Friday and Saturday. Officers will also help to manage traffic flow during the two-day event.

Provincial police are advising residents to expect higher-than-normal traffic and pedestrian volumes.

"Motorists are being urged to mind local speed limits in the area and to be mindful of pedestrian traffic, especially at marked crosswalks," read an OPP release. "Officers are asking residents and participants for patience during this event, for the safety of all."

Festivities kick off Friday night with The Glorious Sons. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m. Day two of OktBorderFest will feature the Barenaked Ladies with Kim Mitchell. Saturday's show is expected to start at 6:30 p.m.

COVID-19 precautions will be in place. Details can be found by clicking, here.
