Sting rally for win over the Petes in final preseason warm-up

The Sarnia Sting rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the visiting Peterborough Petes 8-5 Friday.

Captain Brayden Guy had two goals and two assists while rookie Ryder McIntyre scored twice.

Local product Nolan DeGurse had a goal and two assists and winger Nikita Tarasevich picked up three helpers.

Akex Geci, Nolan Dann and Theo Hill also tallied for the Sting.

Rookies Nick Lardis and Justin DeZoete each had a goal and an assist for the Petes while Kaspars Ziemins scored his club-leading fourth goal.

Sarnia goalie Dylan Grover faced 19 shots while Tye Austin and Liam Sztuska combined to block 21 shots.

The Sting wrapped up the pre-season with a 3-2-0-1 record and open the regular season in Windsor on Thursday then host the Spitfires on Friday.
