Renovations underway at Forest Library

A nearly $60,000 renovation project starts at the Forest Library on Monday.

Lambton County Library Services Manager Darlene Coke said the first phase will see a new meeting and program space built for community and municipal partners and to allow greater access for Ontario Works clients.

"Later on this fall in phase two, we'll be looking at some cosmetic and also some service upgrades, including new flooring, new shelving, a new location for a service desk, fresh coats of paint and some other refreshed space," said Coke.

Some of the collections will be shifted around and housed in different spots so they might be temporarily unavailable.

"For the first phase, we're looking to keep the library open. There will be some construction activity, so we would just ask people to have patience and to bear with us through that process," she said. "Then later on this fall in phase two, we will need to close the library to the public for a period of time when we are replacing the flooring and the shelving, just because of the scope of that work."

Coke said drop boxes will remain open and patrons will be encouraged to use the Watford, Thedford, Arkona and Wyoming locations during the phase two closure.
