Over half-a-million dollars has been raised for the Sarnia-Lambton 2021 United Way campaign in three weeks.
Executive Director Dave Brown said the money raised represents 28.5 per cent of the $1.75 million goal.
Brown said the organization is where it'd like to be at this stage in the campaign, adding that over 950 donors have already supported the drive.
"We are feeling very comfortable, although we're just in the early innings. There are 16 weeks altogether and we're just approaching the one-quarter mark. So, when you look at the time that we've got and the percentage of the campaign that we're at, it's a pretty good trend so far."
Brown said a number of campaigns kicked off this past week.
"Reliance Home Comfort had another very successful kickoff breakfast. They almost reached their goal within the first few hours of their campaign. They've got a number of events happening this week, including chili," said Brown. "Shell Canada employees also kicked off with a breakfast last week, and that company, like Reliance, we'll match dollar for dollar."
The 2020 United Way campaign fell short of the $1.9-million goal, raising just over $1.75-million.
The United Way helps fund 20 local agencies providing 40 programs and services.
