COVID caseload up 19 in Sarnia-Lambton

Lambton Public Health is reporting another jump in COVID-19 cases.

The health unit reported 19 new confirmed infections Wednesday and 12 resolved cases, increasing the active case count by seven to 88.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, there have been 4,107 confirmed cases, 3,949 resolved cases and 70 local deaths.

Bluewater Health had seven COVID-positive patients in hospital, up one from Tuesday.

The local rate of infection per 100,000 dropped to 56.5 for the week of October 10 to 16, from 63.4 the week before. The positivity rate was higher, 5.2 per cent from 3.6 per cent.

To date, 79.1 per cent of the eligible population aged 12 and up is fully vaccinated for the virus, 82.9 per cent have had one dose of vaccine.
