Sarnia VICE Unit reports largest fentanyl seizure on record

The Sarnia police VICE Unit is reporting the largest fentanyl seizure in its history.

At around 12:50 a.m. October 23, officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of Rayburne Avenue, as part of an ongoing investigation.

They allegedly seized 594 grams of powdered fentanyl, with a street value of $118,000, 138 grams of cocaine, with a street value of $15,180, and $14,730 in currency.

Cst. John Sottoanti said police also found blenders that appeared to be used in the process of mixing of fentanyl with other substances.

"This is of extreme concern due to the fact that this attempt to produce dosages is not part of any sort of pharmaceutical process and thus there is potential for fatal dosages being created," he said.

Jalen Saravia, 20, and Jordan James Chu, 18, both originally from the Hamilton area, face two counts each of possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Chu was also wanted in Hamilton, Windsor, and London for outstanding warrants.

Both were being held in custody pending bail hearings.
