Children's charity making final push ahead of vehicle raffle

There's still time to enter a draw to win a new Ford Bronco in support of Noelle's Gift to Children.

The Sarnia nonprofit has teamed up with Lambton Ford for the second Vehicle & Cash Lottery initiative.

Noelle’s sister Nicole Paquette said things have been a little slower this year.

"Last year we sold out, so this year we did end up adding an extra 100 tickets," said Paquette. "But I believe a big impact there was the lack of inventory and vehicles alone, because Lambton Ford President Rob Ravensburg was so generous if somebody purchased a vehicle he would provide them with a ticket."

The campaign is also giving out another prize of $5,000.

Paquette said the draws will take place December 11 on what would have been Noelle's 36th birthday.

"As a family we still get together with her close friends and celebrate her on that day. So, we just thought it would be a good day to draw the winning ticket, and we generally get together and celebrate her after."

Paquette said they were hoping to surpass last year's amount raised of around $70,000 -- a few hundred tickets were still available Tuesday morning.

Paquette said fundraising has certainly been a challenge during the pandemic.

"COVID has kind of put a little bit of a wrench when it comes to gatherings and getting together but we are still pushing forward. We're on par with what we need but we are being utilized more than ever."

Noelle’s Gift was established in memory of Noelle Paquette, a former kindergarten teacher with St. Clair Catholic District School Board, who was killed in January of 2013.

Funds raised support youth programs across Lambton-Kent, and with supplies like food, shoes, clothes, medication wheelchairs and eyeglasses.
