The blaze broke out at a unit in the 900 block of Colborne Road before 9 a.m.
Heavy smoke could be seen coming from an upstairs window.
The Sarnia Police Service also responded, and motorists were advised to avoid the area while crews battled the fire.
Further details, including possible injuries, were not immediately available.
The man was charged in March with sexual assault offences.
Both couples won in the April 11 draw.
