Sarnia-Lambton's health unit has reported over 1,100 new COVID cases over the past week.
Lambton Public Health added 105 new cases to its figures Wednesday morning, bringing the total caseload to 6,397. Resolved cased are up 178 for a total of 5,064.
Active infections are at 1,249, down 73 from Tuesday, and active outbreaks have dropped from seven to eight. COVID-related deaths are unchanged at 84.
On Wednesday, the health unit updated its COVID incidence rate -- from December 26 to January 1, there were 651.3 cases per 100,000 population, up from a rate of 355 the week before.
To date, there have been a total of 226,637 COVID vaccinations administered to residents in Sarnia-Lambton.
There were 5,188 shots administered over the past week locally, including 331 first doses. Around 81 per cent of the eligible population has received at least one dose of vaccine.
Bluewater Health has 26 COVID-positive patients in hospital, down one from Tuesday.
