Lambton OPP say for the most part, motorists were being responsible on the roads during the latest blast of winter weather.
Environment Canada said Sarnia-Lambton received about 20 centimeters of snow Wednesday, with gusty northerly winds and blowing snow.
Cst. Jamie Bydeley said they responded to only three collisions Wednesday.
"And that was later on in the day as the conditions worsened, said Bydeley. "None were serious, no injuries were reported so we're thankful for that. By 11 a.m. Thursday, there were five collisions, again none have been serious or involved any kind of injuries. Again, we're thankful people are heeding the warnings that we're giving out."
There were reports of several vehicles in the ditch along the 402.
The westbound Highway between Colonel Talbot Road and Lambton County was closed for about three hours Thursday morning due to unsafe road conditions and black ice.
"But, to warn drivers there may still be some slippery sections along that stretch of highway so to use caution again, drive slow, drive to the conditions and leave extra room in front of you," said Cst. Bydeley.
There's more snow in the forecast Thursday. Another two to five centimetres is possible, with winds out of the north gusting up to 60 kilometres an hour.
