Winners announced in Pt. Edward snow creation challenge

A family of penguins won first place in the Village of Point Edward's first annual snow creation challenge.

The contest began on Thursday, February 3 and concluded on Monday, February 7. The participant list included 24 residences and businesses.

The winners were announced Tuesday morning through the village's Facebook page.

The penguin sculptures that took first place are located at 25 Alfred St., second place was for a fish at 24 Louisa St., and third place was awarded for the old Point Edward train at 509 Victoria Ave. The prizes consisted of gift certificates to a Point Edward business of the winner's choice.

Special Projects and Health & Safety Co-ordinator Shelley Archer had previously said the challenge was created in order to help boost community spirit.
