City police recruitment underway

As several officers are scheduled to retire this year, the Sarnia Police Service is looking to fill some vacant positions.

Inspector Leo Murphy said there could be as many as six open positions this year due to attrition.

Murphy said those interested in a career in law enforcement can apply through the Sarnia Police Service website.

"And under careers you can find the posting for Recruit Constable," said Murphy. "There's a checklist of the different things you need to do to apply, submitting a current resume and cover letter, you have to complete your application form, and also you have to produce a copy of your OACP (Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police) Certificate of Results."

He said they're looking for people who are passionate about serving their community.

"People of good moral character, so truthfulness, integrity and willing to be involved with the community," he said.

Those interested must submit their application by Thursday, February 24, 2022.
