Patrons who have been waiting to see shows initially scheduled for 2020 at Victoria Playhouse Petrolia (VPP) will finally get to see those shows this year.
VPP has announced performance dates for postponed shows, starting with The Roaring Twenties in May. A full list of shows can be found below.
Co-Artistic Director David Hogan said it's an "amazing" feeling to be able to announce show dates.
"We're calling this the season worth waiting for," said Hogan.
Shows will be sold with the mindset of theatres operating at 100 per cent capacity. However, should future restrictions come into play, Hogan said VPP will abide by government regulations.
With health and safety in mind, Hogan said a new ventilation system has been installed in the theatre and sanitizer will be made available to patrons.
"Everyone can trust that we are going to look after them. If they're feeling apprehensive or nervous, call us, let's have a talk and we're going to make sure that you're really comfortable."
In the meantime, Hogan said preparations for what takes place behind the scenes are being made.
"Co-Artistic Director David Rogers and myself are doing all the casting, we're talking to Toronto agents and actors, and we're getting everyone in place, signed up and ready to come for the summer season," Hogan said.
The majority of actors who were signed up to take part in the 2020 shows will return in 2022 but Hogan said some have other commitments.
Actors expected to return include Michael Learned and Walter Borden (Order of Canada member) in On Golden Pond. VPP audience favourite Jesse Grandmont is also expected to appear in When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.
