Sarnia fire officials have issued a safety reminder to residents after a dog was rescued from the frigid waters of Lake Huron.
Firefighters saved a dog after it went over an ice berm and fell through the ice on Woodrowe Avenue, just after 4 p.m. Thursday.
"Firefighters have the training and equipment to perform this type of rescue," read a tweet from Sarnia Fire Rescue. "Do not attempt venturing onto unsafe ice at any point."
Lambton OPP urged residents to be safe near and on the ice earlier this year. Those partaking in winter activities, such as ice fishing, are encouraged to wear thermal protection, carry a cell phone, and never go out onto the ice alone.
