Temperatures will be flirting with record-setting territory in Sarnia-Lambton this weekend.
Environment Canada has predicted a high of 12 C, 54 F on Saturday, and 18 C, 64 F on Sunday.
Meteorologist Peter Kimbell said the record for March 5 is 19.1 C, 66 F set in 2004.
"We'll be a long way from setting a record on Saturday," said Kimbell. "Sunday however, we'll be further into the warm sector and we're looking for a high of 18 Celsius, which would be close to a record but probably not. The record for March 6, is 19.9 Celsius set in 2009. We probably won't set a record either day but regardless, it's going to be really mild and so people can certainly get out and enjoy it."
Kimbell said the milder than normal temperatures are due to a fairly significant low pressure system building up across the Midwest, ushering warm air over southern Ontario. He said it will be short-lived though.
"The forecast for Monday is snow," he said. "It's still early to say what's going to happen exactly on Monday because there could be a few phase changes, but yeah it's going to be a big change from Sunday to Monday no question about that."
The forecasted high for Monday is -1 C, 30 Far.
