Sting blown away by Storm in 5-1 loss

It was a tough loss for the Sarnia Sting Friday night as they fell to Guelph 5-1 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Nolan Dann scored Sarnia's first and only goal of the night during the first period with an assist from Ty Voit.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca said he felt like although many players were happy to be there, they didn't contribute in the way that was needed.

"Hopefully for some, it's a learning experience that we don't have to go through again over the next 18 games," said Seca during a post-game media conference.

Seca also said he couldn't identify a single player that gave an effort the organization could be happy about.

"We were quite happy to get that game over with, which is not the way we want to play."

Prior to puck drop, the Sting welcomed three of the club’s formers overage players for their final regular-season game in Sarnia. A video was posted to the Sting's Facebook page.

Seca said it was a great opportunity to pay homage to players who were "big contributors" to the team in the past.

"For us, we've spent a lot of time in the last two years thinking about pride, and pride for us is recognizing those people and thanking them for what they've done," he said. "Obviously the result tonight didn't end the way you wanted it to but I think as an organization, it's a really good step in the right direction to continue to pay respect to those that contribute."

The Sting are back at the Hive on Sunday to host the London Knights. You can hear the game on CHOK. Puck drop is set for 2:05 p.m.
