Local students will soon learn more about film ahead of the annual Lambton Youth Short Film Competition.
Training sessions will be held at various schools during the week of April 4.
The short film competition for youth is held as part of the annual Lambton Film and Food Festival.
Secretary/ Treasurer of the Optimist Club of Forest Scott Ferguson said they anticipate more students to participate in training this year, considering it was previously held virtually or at the Bayside Mall Shared Services Centre.
"We're bringing the instructor [Brent Orr] down for four -- possibly five days, and they're going to be full-day courses. Before we used to do one class in the morning and one in the afternoon but with the busing schedule, it didn't give the students much time. This way, they'll get a full day of training."
Ferguson said the training will incorporate basic concepts of film and writing skills.
Students at Ecole Secondaire Catholique Saint-Francois Xavier in Sarnia participated in the training sessions earlier this year. With additional sessions being held this spring, it's anticipated that nearly 150 students will have taken the training by the end of the school year.
Youth must be between the ages of 13 and 19 in order to submit a film to the competition. The submission deadline is May 20.
Nineteen films were submitted last year.
The Lambton Film and Food Festival is expected to be held from May 26 until May 29.
