Petrolia recognizes death of former councillor

The Town of Petrolia is mourning the loss of a former councillor and dedicated community member.

Maxine Fiddick, 92, passed away Thursday at Fiddick's Nursing Home in Petrolia.

Fiddick served on council from 1986 to 1994, and was a board member of the District Health Council, and a member of both the Royal Canadian Legion and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was also a founding member of Fiddick's Nursing Home and dedicated most of her life to the care and management of the facility.

The flag at the Petrolia Municipal Office has been lowered to half-mast and will be restored to full height following a funeral and other arrangements.

A private funeral was planned at Steadman Brothers Funeral Home in Brigden.
