Student entrepreneurs are being invited to apply for funding to help kick start and run their very own summer business.
The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is offering $3,000 grants through Ontario's Summer Company program.
Development Coordinator Chantelle Core said the money will be put toward things like training, mentoring and eventually launching the business.
"The program has been going strong for over 20 years now in Sarnia-Lambton and across the province," said Core. "It is a program with a strong track record of developing young entrepreneurs in the community and creating a difference in our community by creating businesses that make Sarnia-Lambton a great place to live. An example of that is 'Blue Coast Bundles' which launched a few years ago and is still going strong in supporting existing businesses and providing subscription box service type opportunities and selling those in the local market."
Core said the program is open to students aged 15 to 29 who are returning to school and haven't received a Summer Company grant in the past.
"The students that we look for have an idea for a business they would like to launch but, more importantly, they have the desire to learn how to operate a business," she said. "We aren't necessarily looking for just the strongest ideas. While that helps and we like to help the students develop those ideas further, the real goal of the program is to find students who are eager to learn, want to experience all that entrepreneurship can offer them, and make a difference."
