A lengthy drug investigation by the Sarnia Police Vice Unit has led to the significant seizure of fentanyl and methamphetamine from a home on Leopold Drive.
Police said their investigation began in late 2021. The Vice Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at around 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 7.
Several people were in the home at the time, and one of the suspects allegedly provided officers with a fake name.
Police said they confirmed his identity, and determined he had an outstanding warrant. As he was being escorted out of the residence the male allegedly began to physically resist police and spat directly into the face of one of the officers.
The suspect was brought back under control with no further incident.
A search of the residence located the following items:
- 118.94 grams of fentanyl with a street value of $23,788.
- 21.7 grams of “raw” fentanyl with an approximate street value of $78,400.
- 2.77 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of $277.
- $23,475 in Canadian currency.
Police said three people are facing charges:
1) Jordan Lawrence Nahmabin-Shaw, 31, of Sarnia, faces two counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and one count of failing to comply with a release order.
2) Daniel Animkee Plain, 32, of Sarnia, faces one count of possession of a schedule I substance, one count of assaulting police, and one count of public mischief.
3) Nicole Rosemary Joseph, 27, of Sarnia, faces two counts of possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
All three accused have been held by police for a bail hearing on Friday.
