Sarnia driver charged after revving engine, squealing tires

A 26-year-old driver accused of revving his vehicle's engine and squealing its tires has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with stunt driving.

A Sarnia police officer, conducting traffic enforcement on London Line near Airport Road, heard a vehicle making extremely loud noises at around 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Police said a white Mitsubishi allegedly causing the noise was then seen coming off of Airport before continuing eastbound on London Line.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and charged the man with racing a motor vehicle. The driver's vehicle was also impounded for 14 days and his licence was suspended for 30 days.

Police are reminding the public that driving in such a reckless manner will not be tolerated. The service added that when and where possible, enforcement will be conducted to the fullest extent.
