Interested drivers invited to take a school bus for a ride

First Student Sarnia is recruiting school bus drivers.

Location Manager Mike Pugh said they're inviting drivers to come and experience what it's like behind the wheel of a 40-foot school bus.

He said it's called the 'Big Bus, No Big Deal' campaign.

"A campaign that is run throughout North America, but this is the first time that we've done it here in the Sarnia-Lambton region," said Pugh. "There's people that probably want to drive a bus, but it might be intimidating and they think I can't do that, or where do I begin? So, we're providing the opportunity for the general public to come out on a closed course at our own location and get behind the wheel and see what it feels like."

Pugh said those interested must be at least 21-years-old and have had a valid G licence for at least three years. He said participants do not need any previous training or a commercial drivers licence.

The hands-on event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, at First Student Sarnia at 1430 Lougar Avenue.
