Photo contest winners announced

Four teens have won a local photo contest and over 20 submissions will be featured in an art gallery later this month.

The Lambton County Library and the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery hosted this year’s “Take Your Shot: Teen Photo Contest” which was open to those between the ages of 13 and 18.

The theme for the contest was “Feels Like Home” and included categories such as people or pets, places, and things.

Fifty-eight photos were submitted to the contest and the winners were announced in July.

Raveena Duggal, 15, won the grand prize overall title and was the winner in the "things" category.

Ky Hopwood, 15, won in the "people" category. Ryleigh Siklosi, 16, won for a photo submitted in the "pets" category. Emily Jahnke, 14, won for a submission in the "places" category.

The winners were selected by a jury made up of industry professionals. All four winners will receive a professionally matted and framed copy of their winning photo.

Meanwhile, 26 photographs submitted in the contest will be on display at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery from August 12 until October 8. The submitted photos will be showcased alongside a portion of photographer Larry Towell’s work.
