NOVA's Corunna facility is expected to experience elevated flaring as expansion project activities progress.
In a media release, the company said the duration of flaring is anticipated to last 12-24 hours and that they're actively working to return the facility to normal operating conditions as soon as possible.
Spokesperson Julia Iacovella said flares are important safety devices that safely burn excess hydrocarbon gases that cannot be recovered or recycled and that flares play a key role in keeping their facilities running safely.
Iacovella said the company strives to minimize flaring, keeping it to times necessary for their continued safe operation.
