SIU probing Sarnia man's death

Ontario's police watchdog is investigating the death of a Sarnia man.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said Sarnia police were called to conduct a wellness check of a man at a London Road residence at around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

It's alleged when the officer arrived, the 36-year-old man went into medical distress. Lambton EMS were called and transported the man to hospital where he was pronounced dead Monday afternoon.

The SIU has assigned five investigators and one forensic investigator to the case.

A post-mortem is scheduled for Wednesday.

Anyone with information about the investigation, including video or photos, is asked to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online through the SIU website.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury, or allegations of sexual assault.
