Tolling system upgrades underway

Tolling system upgrades are underway at the Blue Water Bridge.

Federal Bridge Corporation Spokesperson Remi Francoeur said the technology, used by U.S.-bound customers, should be upgraded by Saturday, September 17.

Customers will use windshield tags that are automatically read by the toll system once the corporation fully transitions to the new technology.

Existing customers will see their current account information and balances automatically transferred to the new system.

Francoeur said the magnetic swipe cards currently used will continue to work, but will be phased out eventually.

Anyone seeking more information or who wants to sign up for ConneXion is asked to visit the Federal Bridge Corporation's website.

During the upgrade period, Francoeur said customers may notice some traffic disruptions however crews will be working diligently to minimize the impact on travelers.
