United Way campaign nearing 30 per cent mark

Support from the community has helped push the Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign ahead in its third week.

So far over 1,000 donors have contributed to the campaign through mail in donations, raising $430,000, or 26 per cent of the $1.65 million needs target.

Executive Director Dave Brown said several employee campaigns are underway, including the LCBO 'Give at the Till' campaign.

"The LCBO campaign is underway and will run until I believe October 17," said Brown. "Last year it raised almost $33,000 from the Sarnia and Lambton county stores. There's been a lot of employee activities at a number of the employee campaigns this week, so we're anticipating we're going to be at about 30 per cent by Thanksgiving."

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 17 agencies providing over 31 programs and services to the community.
