Humane society promotes fundraiser before tickets sell out

A local cash calendar fundraiser, in support of the Sarnia and District Humane Society, includes a larger prize board of $5,000 this year instead of $4,000.

Tickets for the People/ Pet Winter Lottery Cash Calendar went on sale at the beginning of October for $10 each.

Fund Development Manager Adelle Richards said the cash calendar is one of their "favourite fundraisers" that typically sells out quickly. Only 2,500 tickets are printed.

"It is very popular! It is a great Christmas gift for folks who are hard to buy for," said Richards.

The organizations has held the fundraiser for over 30 years but it was not held in 2020/ 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Richards said last year, tickets sold out at the end of November.

"My words of encouragement is, 'don't wait too long. Snatch them up while you can,'" she said.

Funds raised will support programs and services at the humane society to ensure the animals in their care are taken care of.

Lottery tickets are available at the Humane Society on Exmouth Street, RBC location in Sarnia and Corunna, and Pet Food Warehouse locations on London Road and Exmouth Street, and Bright's Grove Animal Hospital. Tickets can also be purchased online.

Participants must be at least 18 years old.

Each ticket will be entered into a draw to win a daily prize in January 2023. Winners will be contacted via phone or email, winning ticket numbers will also be posted online.
