A 50-year-old Sarnia man is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed his roommate during an argument.
Police said the accused and his 27-year-old roommate attended a downtown bar Thursday night.
The two returned home shortly after 10 p.m., in the 200 block of Vidal Street North, accompanied by a 28-year-old mutual friend.
An argument between the roommates allegedly turned physical and the 27-year-old was later taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the abdomen. Sarnia police said the 28-year-old was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained while trying to intervene.
Both the roommate and friend were discharged from hospital.
The accused was charged with aggravated assault and assaulting a police officer, after he allegedly struck an officer in the face during the arrest.
He was remanded into custody after a bail hearing and will have his next court appearance on October 24.
Sarnia police assured residents there is no risk to public safety.
