United Way campaign about 40 per cent of the way there

Just over a month into the Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign, and they're nearing the 40 per cent mark.

Executive Director Dave Brown said they've raised about $650,000 towards their $1.65 million needs target, with eight weeks left to go in the campaign.

"Arlanxeo is wrapping up, Imperial Oil employees are in the final weeks, we still have the Shell campaign going on, NOVA is in the early innings of their campaign and there's a number of non-industrial campaigns as well such as DFO (Fisheries and Oceans Canada) and the Canada Border Services," said Brown. "The momentum continues to go as we had hoped, so we just hope it carries on for another couple months."

He said so far 1,250 donors have contributed to the campaign.

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 17 local agencies providing over 31 programs and services in three target areas, From Poverty to Possibility, All That Kids Can Be and Healthy People-Strong Communities.
