A 26-year-old Sarnia man is charged after a vehicle struck a cyclist while trying to enter a parking lot in the 1300 block of London Road.
Sarnia police said the incident happened at around 2 p.m. Sunday while the cyclist was riding on the sidewalk.
It's alleged the driver travelled through the parking lot, attempting to flee the area. Police said two witnesses in vehicles were able to pin the suspect vehicle in, preventing it from leaving, and called police.
The accused allegedly registered a fail on a roadside screening device, and police said he blew three times the legal limit at police headquarters.
He faces one count each of failing to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm, operation causing bodily harm, and operation while impaired.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
The 49-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital and treated for serious injuries.
