The City of Sarnia is advising of seasonal parking lot closures at Canatara Park.
Starting Friday, the two lots west of the main beach parking lot will be closed to traffic for the winter, and will reopen to the public on Monday, April 17, 2023.
Barriers will be put up, and signage will be posted on site.
The city said parking will still be available for winter visitors at the main lot, and all other parking areas in the park will remain open.
The closures are due to the age and condition of the two lots.
The city said water consistently pools at the entrances which creates safety concerns when it freezes over.
These lots are not maintained over the winter months, and often present challenges for visitors who inadvertently enter the area and sometimes find themselves unable to exit without help.
