Library launches app, encouraging youth to 'bundle up with a book'

Lambton County Library has launched its annual winter reading programs with a new app for kids and teens to track their progress and earn prizes.

The programs, Bundle Up With A Book and Teen Freedom to Read, aims to encourage teens and children to read during the colder months and incorporates literacy activities, challenges and prizes.

The library's new Beanstack app allows participants to earn badges for completing activities and reading books.

Registration opens on January 2 and participants can log their reading from January 9 until February 19.

Prizes and incentives vary between programs.

As part of the winter reading initiative, Lambton County Library has scheduled events throughout January and February at different branches.

Some of the programming includes escape rooms for those 10 and up, Indigenous storytelling, learning experiences with Heaven's Wildlife Rescue, and a family read-along.

Further details about the events and registration can be found in the library's online calendar.
