'No excuse' Sarnia driver clocked at over 170 km/hr on Hwy. 403

A 32-year-old from Sarnia is facing charges for allegedly driving faster than 70 kilometres per hour above the legal speed limit.

Brant County OPP said a vehicle was clocked at 176 km/hr while in a posted 100 km/hr zone on Highway 403 Sunday night.

The accused was charged with stunt driving, speeding in excess of 50 km/hr over the speed limit, and driving a motor vehicle with no licence (on their person).

In a post on Twitter, OPP said there is no excuse for speeding on public roads.

"'I'm sorry but I'm rushing to get home to my loved ones,' does not work," read the social media post.

The Sarnia resident had their driver's licence suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date.
