Three legendary members of the Sarnia Sting organization are included in the OHL club's inaugural Hall of Fame class for 2023.
They include former players Jon Sim, who is the team's all-time leader in points (311) and goals (165), and Trevor Letowski who played from 1994 to 1997 and was a coach from 2010 to 2015.
Sim scored 56 goals in back-to-back seasons in 1995-96 and 1996-97 and was the OHL's goal-scoring leader in the 1996-97 season.
Following his prolific junior career, he went on to play 12 seasons in the NHL, winning a Stanley Cup with the Dallas Stars, as well as championships in the AHL and DEL.
In 1997, Letowski became the first member of the hockey club to represent Canada at the World Junior Tournament and captured a gold medal.
Also being inducted is original Sarnia Sting owner and governor Robert Ciccarelli.
Robert, along with his brothers Larry and Dino, are the reason OHL hockey is in Sarnia today.
The team said his vision led to the building of a (then) new Sports and Entertainment Facility in 1998 which is the current home of the Sarnia Sting.
He was awarded the OHL Executive of the Year in 1999-2000.
